The official cutting of the ribbon done by the Auditor General of PNG Mr. Gordon Kega (left) and Treasury and Finance Minister for ABG Hon. Robin Wilson, which signifies the use of the vehicle to service field work and operational activities for both the AGO office and the Buka internal audits.

The Auditor General of Papua New Guinea, Mr. Gordon Kega, recently presented the keys of a brand-new Isuzu D-Max to the Auditor General’s Office (AGO) in Buka last Friday. This act of goodwill occurred during a small yet significant event, which serves as a reflection of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on September 15, 2022, during the official opening of the new AGO office in ABG.

The establishment of the AGO office in Buka is a collaborative effort between the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) and the PNG Office of the Auditor General (AGO) to ensure that audit services are easily accessible to the people of ABG.

Since the end of 2022, the AGO has been equipping the Buka office with manpower, office equipment, IT infrastructure, and other resources to enhance its capacity for conducting audit activities. Despite facing challenges due to limited funding from the Government of PNG, the AGO has been actively exploring alternative sources of funding to improve and strengthen the capacity of the AGO office in Buka.

Therefore, the handover of another brand-new office vehicle signifies another significant milestone for the AGO office in Buka.

“The official handover of this new motor vehicle is a major achievement for the office in Buka. While it is a capital asset for the Office of the Auditor General, the Buka office will be responsible for its custody. This new D-max is equipped with the latest GPS tracking device to monitor its movement and prevent any unauthorized use,” stated AG Kega.

He further emphasized that the installed tracking device has the capability to disable the vehicle’s mechanical system if it is detected traveling to unauthorized destinations.

The vehicle will provide support to both the AGO office and the Buka Internal Audits in their fieldwork and operational activities.

The post New Vehicle to service audit work in Buka. first appeared on Office of the Auditor General.

Auditors going through the weeklong session that introduces TEAMMATE+ Application, Navigation, hands-on activities, and applying methodology of the new TEAMATE+ audit management software.

An Auditors’ burden to carry stacks of audit papers for auditing and reporting will soon be a thing of the past now when Auditors of the Auditor General’s Office (AGO) are getting prepared to implement a new Web-Based software called TEAMMATE+ Audit.

The TEAMMATE+ Audit software was customized by the AGO Champions to suit the PNG Business environment.

During a workshop conducted at Stanley Hotel on the 11th – 14th of April 2023, auditors were amazed when taught the skill of how to manage the new paperless software.

The weeklong session introduced staff to the TEAMMATE+ Application, Navigation hands on activities, and applying methodology learnt in the new TEAMATE+ system.

An earlier version Teammate Administration Module (Teammate AM) came into the scene in April of 2017.

The version presented then was only used by Statutory Bodies and the Provincial and Local Level Governments Audit Division of AGO, until its migration to TEAMATE+ in April 2022.

Through the system, AGO was able to trial out through progressive implementation its first ever auditing reports on the Web-Base software back in 2022, with impressive results.

The new system can be accessible when hooked up from anywhere through an efficient internet connectivity, and stores onsite audit reports direct to the AGO server at the headquarters in Port Moresby.

The training conducted was the first phase that introduced Auditors to the TEAMMATE+ Audit Application and, its Methodology on Planning.

The second phase of the training will coincide in June of this year (2023) which will cover Methodology on Review and Reporting for auditors to fully implement rolling out of the TEAMMATE+ Audit Web-Base Auditing System.

AG Mr. Gordon Kega (left) and the Hon Ishmael Toroama (right) at the signing ceremony held at the Peace Park in Buka town, witnessed by the public.

The official opening of the New Auditor-General’s Regional Branch office in Bougainville was declared opened by the Auditor-General of Papua New Guinea, Mr. Gordon Kega, and, the Honourable Ishmael Toroama on the 11th of November 2022. The opening of the new office followed an agreement that took place prior between the AGO and the ABG on the 15th of September 2022.

AGO’s intention in these two declarations signed, was to properly execute its constitutional audit mandate to the satisfaction of the Bougainville Peace Agreement, until such time when Bougainville would appoint its own Auditor-General to run its own affairs. AGO’s concern with the new regional office is to improve audit up to date in the region.

“This agreement outlines the co-operative arrangement between my office and the Autonomous Bougainville Government, which describes the roles and responsibilities of the parties to establish the mutually desired regional branch in Bougainville,” Said Mr. Kega.

Present to witness the two occasions that occurred on different days include, the four Deputy Auditor-General of AGO, and, The Minister for Public Service, Departmental heads, and local community leaders of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

The post SAI PNG opens Regional Office in Autonomous Region of Bougainville first appeared on Office of the Auditor General.

Auditor General of PNG Mr. Gordon Kega seated (Middle) alongside ENB Provincial Administration, and Senior Auditors from the Auditor General’s Office posed for a photo in ending the successful profile date presentation at Kokopo East New Britain Province.

The Auditor General (AG) of Papua New Guinea, Mr. Gordon Kega classified a profile data (framework) presentation done by the East New Britain Provincial (ENBP) Administration as a role model, setting standards for all Services Improvement Program (SIP) auditing.

The framework presented was based on ENBP’s 2015 performance base report showcasing key surveyed information that aided the dissemination of the Services Improvement Program (SIP) funds throughout the districts and the province as a whole.

The presentation highlighted the key profile data on ENBP’s land mass, population density, and demography survey on various ages and gender to name a few, with its Vision & Mission Statement which enabled the ENBP Administration in its efforts of equitable disbursement of SIP funds to the much needed projects in all areas of the four districts.

AG Kega was pleased with the report presented to him and his senior auditors in East New Britain Province, and applauded the Provincial Administration for their tremendous effort in putting together useful data on the districts.

The official visit to East New Britain Province was an initiative of AG Kega to bring a team of auditors to revisit the successes of ENBP’s framework that was presented awhile back in 2016, in a leader’s summit held that time in Port Moresby.

AG Kega said the ENBP’s framework had set the standard, “a benchmark” for other Provincial Administrations throughout PNG “a must” to have a similar strategy based on the needs of each individual province and district.

Senior auditors who accompanied AG Kega on the official visit to ENBP were urged to capture the spirit and the intention of the ENBP’s framework for proper, meaningful, and comprehensive SIP audits to be conducted with basic information and details including the type of projects funded through the Services Improvement Program (SIP) funds.

The post ENB’s framework – A Role Model for SIP Audit first appeared on Office of the Auditor General.
